| The
Three-Anchor-Symbol was designed by Prince
Chumporn. Admiral Prince Chumporn was the 28th son of King
Chulalongkorn. He used it as the symbol of himself to mark some
books
of the Royal Thai Navy Academic Department. For example, some special
learning books had the Three-Anchor-Symbol after being checked by
Prince Chumporn
in 1906. At the same time, Prince Chumporn was the Commander of the
Royal
Thai Naval Academy, and the Three-Anchor-Symbol was used as the symbol
of
the RTNA. Nobody knows the real meaning of this symbol. Some people say it is a symbol of nation, religion and the King. Others say it is a symbol of the three sections of study: navigation, engineering and marine. Today, every officer who graduated from the RTNA must wear a Three-Anchor medal on his uniforms. Some flags, rings and medals that belong to the RTNA have the Three-Anchor-Symbol in the middle of them. Many Thai naval cadets expect that the Three-Anchor-Symbol will be used as the symbol of the RTNA and naval graduate officers forever. |
