The RTNA library is an important and interesting place as the main
source of the information and knowledge for naval cadets. There are
many kinds of books, like for example textbooks, magazine and
newspapers.
History
On 23rd November 1964, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces came
to officially open the first RTNA Library which was located of the 3rd
floor of the RTNA Headquarters. At that time the first library was
about 684 square meters. Later, on 5th June 2002, the RTNA library
moved to its present location. In the library, there are many sections
and many rooms for research and self-study.
Location
The current RTNA Library is located on the 3rd and 4th floor of
building 6, the Marine
Engineering Building.
Places in the Library
The RTNA Library is divided into 2 parts.
The first part is on the 3rd floor which is separated into 6 sections:
-Multimedia room
There
are 2 parts in the Multimedia room. The first part is for watching
television and video. There are 2 sets of TV, VCD and DVD players
available. The second part is for meetings and small group seminars.
There are projectors available.
-Magazines & Newspapers
There
are many newspapers and magazines from different publishers both Thai
and English, such as Daily News, Thai Raht and Bangkok Post. They
also have many interesting magazines from many countries. A good
example
is All Hands magazine of the American Navy.
-Main Library
There are many interesting and valuable books and novels in the room
which are arranged into groups which are very easy to find.
-Internet corner
There are 5 computers for typing and searching the Internet for
information.
-SET corner
SET stands for the Stock Exchange of Thailand. The SET corner is for
giving cadets information about the Stock Exchange and about investing.
-Library office
This place is the Librarian’s office, place to fix damaged books and
the
place to register the new books before they are put on the shelf.
The second part on the fourth floor is the reference & important
books room.

Our team interviewed Commander Suneeporn Ammataporn, who is the Chief
of the Library Department, on 31/10/08. She has worked here since she
was an Ensign. She kindly gave us an opportunity to interview her.
Moonsmile : What kinds of people use the library regularly?
Commander : Naval Cadets usually come into library for finding their books and using computer networks all day and there are other people that came to use the library as well.

Commander : The RTNA Library has a lot of books , but it's not enough for Naval Cadets.

Commander : Naval Cadets usually come in to sleep and sometimes they talk a lot, they make too much noise.

Commander : I've had to close the multimedia room because Naval Cadets liked to sleep in the room.
