The Gunnery Training Halls

The gunnery training halls were built a long time ago. They are a place to teach and let naval cadets practice how to use ships’ guns. The gunnery training halls consist of two halls that are located behind building 4. The first hall is on the right side. It is the hall to practice 76/50-mm guns. The other hall is on the left side. It comprises two kinds of ships’ guns: 40/60-mm guns and 20-mm guns. The naval cadets will practice personal duty, position duty, control and loading ammunition by drill. In general fourth-year cadets are instructors and the gunnery teacher gives advice.

When naval cadets graduate from the Royal Thai Naval Academy they will not operate these guns. But naval cadets have to know all guns and how to use them in order to command and order. Furthermore, the gunnery training is to teach naval cadets military discipline, leadership and instruction.

The gunnery training halls are under control of the Weapons and Tactics Department.

[In 2006, building 4 and one of the gunnery training halls were removed; the remaining one next to building 5 is still in use, Ed.]
