The old Marine Engineering building or Building 6 ... was in bad condition, because the ground underneath and around the building had been sinking. So, the Royal Thai Naval Academy had it demolished and replaced by a new building.

The RTNA contracted Proteam Filder Co., Ltd. to build the building at a cost of 128,935,000 baht. It was completed on 13 March 2002. It was opened by Admiral Prasert Boonsong (the Commander-in-Chief at that time).

The new Marine Engineering building is the newest building in the RTNA and houses many important offices of the RTNA. There are five floors in the building. On the first floor, there are four classrooms, 3 laboratories for vibration, fluid mechanic and solid mechanic lab and the engine museum. On the second floor, there are teachers’ rooms, a common room, a computer room, the Marine Engineering Library, a multi-purpose room and three laboratories for metal, thermodynamic and ship stability. The third floor consists of the RTNA library and two sound laboratories. On the fourth floor, there are the computer centre and reference room. On the fifth floor, there are four seminar rooms and an auditorium.

The new Marine Engineering building is like the education centre of the RTNA, because it houses many important education units of the RTNA, such as the library, the computer centre, and not to mention the Marine Engineering itself. So, it is one of the important sights in the RNTA.
