Interview person

Interview with the leading cadet of the RTNA hockey club, N.C. Sampun Kunha.

1. What do you think about the hockey club in the RTNA?
- I think the RTNA hockey club is one of the important clubs in the RTNA and we want to have a lot of success in every tournament we join.

2. Why did you decide to play hockey in the RTNA?
- Because it is a new sport for me. It’s very exciting and interesting to play. Hockey is similar to football and I’m very impressed with the atmosphere in the club.

3. In your vision, how can you improve the RTNA hockey in the future?
- We need many matches to practice and find the proper coaches to teach and train our cadets.

4. Can you explain the principles of hockey?
- Hockey is similar to football. There are two types, one is indoor hockey and the other one is field hockey. The players must have their sticks and play with a ball. Each side has the purpose to make a goal, then they can win a match.

5. What is your expectation of the next tournament, the navy sport week?
- I expect the RTNA hockey team can go through to the semi-final round. I think our team is not good enough to win the championship but if we try hard I think we can win.

History of the RTNA hockey club

Captain Praorn Suntornwipart, the leader of the statistics and Research Division, took hockey to the RTNA. Captain Praorn is a member of the Hockey Association of Thailand. The RTNA hockey club was established in 1997, which is 10 years ago. The purpose is for the naval cadets who are interested in hockey to know about hockey and how to play hockey. The RTNA hockey club sends team to competitions every year, such as the indoor hockey championship, Navy sports week [Navy Games], Thailand field hockey championship and the RTNA and Kasetsart University traditional sports [Seaman-Farmer Games]. The RTNA hockey club wins many prizes every year.

The RTNA hockey club will practice and prepare the teams for 2 months before the competitions. We practice and train tactics after classes are over. Moreover, the RTNA hockey club practices at the weekends at Klong 6, Patumtani, and on Thursdays we go out to practice at Kasetsart University every week.
